Highlander: The Source was the latest Highlander movie to be released. The movie kicks off following Zai Jie breaking
into a tower to inform his buddies about the location of the source. Upon arriving, he gets attacked by The Guardian, behading him, causing the tower to be destroyed by the quickening. Duncan Macleod is drawn toward the explosion to fight the Guardian. Duncan's watcher, Joe, hits the Guardian with a car, and takes Duncan away to join up with his friends searching for the source. They talk with an elder for information about the source, while a lesser immortal watches guard. The Guardian comes to fight until shot by Joe. The guardian then kills Joe, as they all come out to see him dead. They move on towards the source to an island covered in cannibals. Finding shelter in a small house, the same immortal watches guard. He is then killed by the Guardian, becuase as they move towards the source of their immortality, they lose their immortality. Encountering a trap, they're surrounded and tied up by cannibals. As Duncan's past wife is taken to the source by the Guardian, one breaks free to go to the source. Instead of saving his other friends, he runs away, claiming he was the "chosen one." The other two break away and the cannibals go out to "hunt." Duncan pulls away, and makes it to the source for his final confrontation with the Guardian. Given the opportunity to behead him, Duncan puts down his dagger-knife-things, saying that he's done. This causes the Guardian to explode. Duncan goes to his wife and gets his prize of having a child, as the story tells us that only one pure of heart can retrieve the prize, undermining every past villian in the series. |
